Born and raised in Massachusetts, moved to Texas and lived there for over forty years. While in Texas I was a foster parent, a big sister, and a member of the Child Protective Services Board for Walker County for 15 years.
As a member of the CPS Board, we raised funds to provide new clothing for the foster children along with duffle bags, back to school supplies, Christmas presents and other needs. The board kept the Rainbow Room (room where all new items were on display for the foster children to help their foster parents pick out items they needed) organized and supervised. The board also supplied items like cameras, lice kits, car seats, etc. that the caseworkers needed to better perform their jobs.
For eighteen years I was co-owner of a company that provided low income families with housing.
Worked twenty years for the Department of Criminal Justice of Texas.
I have volunteered at The Community Kitchens of Birmingham, Grace Episcopal Church in Woodlawn location, on Tuesday and Friday since 2016. That location is truly a blessing to so many in that area. People who work in the area are able stretch their income by eating a nice lunch there, along with those that are trying to live off their disability/social security checks.
Since moving to Chelsea I am an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church and volunteer for Chelsea’s Citizens Observation Patrol (COP).
